White man's war

-aboriginal and african-canadians weren't allowed to serve in the king's army until 1945.

-reason was "because they may be mistreated in war camps"

 

War measures act

-Germans and Austrians went to jail, and property was taken until end of war

-Immigrants from enemy countries had to register with police

 

Conscription crisis

-Law was made where you had to join the army

-didn't take first born son, etc at first, but this was disregarded later on

-people didn't want to fight britan's war

 

Both of these were factors contributing to WWI

Nationalisation:

-believing one's country is superior 

Industrialisation:

-development of industries on a wide scale
