Appetizers:

Potato – The potato is one of the most important food crops, cooked and eaten as a vegetable in Mi’kmaq cuisine. The potato was the most common food, which provide daily portion of energy.  

Calamari and Scallops – the best and most common sea food in Mi’kmaq culture, was very easy to haunt and prepare as good daily meal.

Mussels – Mi’kmaq enjoy mussel, because it does benefit from a hefty dose of nutrition in each serving. Mussels contain hundreds of calories, and also supply vast amount of protein. Witch such tremendous portion of energy you will be able to haunt mad mod of buffalo bison.

Mi’kmaq Munchie Basket - Chicken wings, mozza sticks, potato skins, onions rings, pepperoni, everything was and still is good Mi’kmaq’s snacks. 

Soups:

Moose soup – might not have been-well-recognised dish in Mi’kmaq culture but moose definitely was well-known animal. Moose skin was fashioned into leggings, sleeves, jackets and pants, but moose meet were cooked into delicious dishes and also soup.

Breakfast Menu:

Eggs and bacon - In Mi’kmaq traditional cuisine, eggs of the great auk was boiled in water by hot rocks. It was very valuable dish and very easy to prepare. Perfect as breakfast.    

Fishes and seafood:

Fresh salmon - Prepared usually poached (boiled in hot water), eating with potato and vegetables. Salmon was the most popular see food, which was eaten by aboriginals.

Seafood Platter (clams, two pieces of haddock and scallops)  – could be very fussy dish nowadays, but for Mi’kmaq seafood were a daily bread.

Dolphin and small whale – surprised? Dolphins were haunted by aboriginals. The fishers used harpoons to hunt seals, small whales and dolphins. This kind of food was served during national ceremonies and important events. When they haunted dolphin, Mi’kmaq people gathered together to have ceremonial feast. It was a really big event for them.

Main Meals:

Lobster – if you still wonder, why lobster has not been mentioned yet. There is your answer. It was very special animal in Mi’kmaq culture. Lobster was kind of holy dish. They were eating lobsters during ceremonies, community meetings, important events and sacral performances.

Deer meet - specific rituals are requiring special foods. Sacred food for the Ojibway, for instance, consists of deer meet with wild rice, corn, strawberries.

Beaver meet – Beaver was and still is very desirable animal because of his fur. But this dam builder was also very important food. Mi’kmaq tradition concerns that nothing can be waste. Every part of animal must be used in properly way. Fur was fashioned into warm clothes, bones was prepared into weapons, harpoons and meet was cooked into delicious common meal.

Feast Platter (Prairies set) - typical feast goods for the Mi’kmaq from the prairies would be Bannock (Indian bread), soup, wild game, and fruit (particularly berries or mashed choke cherries).

Feast Platter (West Coast set) - for a West Coast Indian, sacred goods might include fish and lobster prepared in a special way. Although foods may differ in aboriginal tribes, their symbolic importance remains the same.
